My leukemia's back.

Last night our daughter and SIL hosted a dinner in honor of my # 1 grandson's high school graduation. What has always been a very nice boy is rapidly becoming a very nice man. Now when I hug him, I have to stand on tiptoes.

And the great thing is that he still hugs both of his grandfathers and also his grandmothers.
Treasure it - I know I do!

Hi friends

Got home from my Dad's memorial service last night. it was a good weekend, stressful but mostly okay. Very depressing to realize, with all my health issues, I'm still one of the healthier/more mobile/agile family members

Then, a car wreck down the road put our power out for almost 12 hours. I had 3 dozen eggs in the incubator and have no idea if they're still alive or not, they're so dark I don't have good luck candling them. I'll just have to wait. Put my 7 developing calico bantam Cochin eggs under my two broodies, hopefully they're okay. With the working 3 days in a row last week, the travel and service, the power out and not sleeping at all cause it was so hot, then the power company installed a generator on our power pole at 1am (not quietly, I might add) and worrying about the eggs and chicks.....I was half a step from calling into work today. But, I put on my big girl panties and showed up, only to find out the internet was down again. Promptly called the boss and took dibs on going home for the day

Hope you all are staying cool, staying healthy, all that good stuff.

Wow -- I am glad you made it home safely - I wouldn't worry too much about the eggs, if anything I'd expect a bit of a delay in hatching but I wouldn't be surprised if you still see a good hatch. Sounds like things came together just right in you getting to go ahead and go home from work.

We named him Hollywood. He is always fixing his feathers!
Oh wow! He looks so good!! Hollywood is a wonderful name for him. So glad to see your daughter handling him. We really try to tame our boys so they know it's okay to be held and loved and not be mean. Sorry you lost another hen! Send the box back and we can do it again! I think I have one too many EEs not to mention a Beilefelder trio that I need to sell.

Glad you went to work and back home, Rachel. Those are the unexpected surprises. Did things go okay with your dad's memorial?
Any quick updates for Ashley and Kendra?

Will post more later....

Went to the movies today, and on the way home went through the little community that I grew up in. Over the years my family home and that of my best friend have fallen into a sad state of disrepair. His home has turned into a junkyard, and mine is ready to fall down. The lawn is a hayfield - literally, and siding is falling off. There is a 'For Sale by Owner' sign out front, and I got a little mental twinge about calling. To go there would not be a good thing so it was a fleeting thought. Sadly you can never go back.
