My Love Affair With Ducks...

They lay 80-100 a year. But they are huge, but you have to catch them before they start setting.

the eggs are firmer than chicken eggs. They are more meaty but they make great pastry.
Well I know if I can’t give away duck eggs, I’ll be stuck with turkey eggs too! Maybe though if I have a Tom I could sell fertile eggs. I mean, I am NPIP certified. :idunno

@memphis used to sell eggs for 3 dollars apiece to a high brow bakery for fancy cakes and stuff.

So there is a market.

Also you better check with you NPIP people, I had to fight like crazy to have chickens and turkeys both. They wanted them in separate coops and not free ranging. It took me a while but I managed to have both.

There are always people on Craigslist looking for turkey eggs to hatch in the spring.

or you just eat them yourself.

During my travels here in the U.S., i met a hotel-receptionist who immigrated from Honduras and she told me that as a little girl she actually tried to squeeze the egg out of her mom's chickens… :gig
Poor chickens.... she sounds bright enough to be a future dux collaborator.

Are they firmer like duck eggs are then? I want ALL the birds, so Turkeys are going to happen one day. I just need land :)
