Today is the first time I’ve seen Ralphie do this. What does it mean?

I could not hear it, did he made that Uuump! sound when he raised out of the water?
Still don't know what it means exactly, but i think it is something showing dominance because only the strongest of my drakes do that.

HillBilly, I don’t know what you and Ralphie are talking about. I liked the sneakers. And those aren’t PJ’s, they’re patterned leggings. Are y’all crazy?
We're just kiddin'! - You should see me in my oversized white Tees and my worn out shorts. Last time a 'coon dropped dead out of tree when he saw me! ;)

There was no noise at all, just that action that reminds me of a horse rearing up. It is different than the ‘rise up out of the water to flap wings’ motion, which they all do. So far, only Ralphie has made this motion, repeatedly I might add.

He likely needs to grow his chest a little bit wider to be able to produce that Grunt or Uuump! sound. Big fat Brownie Drake is adept in making it - ten times in a row. Some evenings the drakes here have a grunt competition. It is hilarious!

Oh, and another thing I noticed yesterday, Ralphie has sweet eyes now for Petey too. But what was interesting to me is that Petey appeared to quack differently and ‘flatten’ herself out in the water. Her back was broader, legs slightly stretched out to the side and her neck stretched out forward. Was that her way of “asking for it?”

And, I got my water bill today. First time since I’ve had the ducks and their pools. It was triple! I’m gonna have to ask my son to put the coops and barn back on our well water.
