Really? I thought that was one of their native foods but maybe we spoil them over here.Runner bamboo will not only take over a pen, it will also take over areas outside of the pen! Pheasants tend not to forage on bamboo.

I live in the USA...but would totally move to Scotland to work for a hotel that not only allowed me to keep/see my pets at work, but also built habitats for them. Weensy bit jealous but also so happy for you, that such a place exists!Here is their enclosure to date. It will be built out to at least double the size again, hopefully bigger.

Yeah, they will have some color their 1st year but it will take 15 to 18 months or even 24 months before they will have their adult plumage. Mine usually have their adult plumage by 14 to 16 months.Turning into such a gorgeous lad. Every day there is more colour!
