My lovely yellow goldens.

Runner bamboo will not only take over a pen, it will also take over areas outside of the pen! Pheasants tend not to forage on bamboo.
Really? I thought that was one of their native foods but maybe we spoil them over here. 😁 I will try it in a planter then, but in general bamboo doesn't do well enough over here that I would be worried.

Here is their enclosure to date. It will be built out to at least double the size again, hopefully bigger.

I live in the USA...but would totally move to Scotland to work for a hotel that not only allowed me to keep/see my pets at work, but also built habitats for them. Weensy bit jealous but also so happy for you, that such a place exists! šŸ™šŸ’•

Can't tell by this angle?
This was mostly to capture the personality šŸ™‚ 🌼 , but you have sexed this one as female before and the way she is going I completely agree! Barred tail and the feathers on the head coming trough exactly the same as the others. Eyes getting hazel instead of green too.
Just a little bit behind. This is the smallest one that was getting pecked on. ā¤ļø

I see it more like me doing them a favour. ;) The pen was sitting empty for over a year and the staff had to make up stories for the kiddos to fool them that something was in there.
The guests love the pheasants! They are very unusual here - but the hotel also keep alpacas, chickens and this year we hatched our own ducks.
I also kept exotic butterflies in the large greenhouse one year.
You should come and visit! ā¤ļø

Turning into such a gorgeous lad. Every day there is more colour!

Yeah, they will have some color their 1st year but it will take 15 to 18 months or even 24 months before they will have their adult plumage. Mine usually have their adult plumage by 14 to 16 months.
