yeah, but the young small trees don't create the rainforest enviorment that our planet needs to maintain weather and temp stability, etc.
Be careful you are treading on creation

I always thought all trees came from a seedling, better go review my biology. I thought rain came from evaporation over the ocean. I think you have things in reverse.

The only thing you can do is plant. It will make you feel better .Our double lot was bare compared to each neighbor who has awesome 100 feet trees. We had 2 rotting apple trees, grass, and fill dirt.Someone went crazy stripping the yard.It has been 5 years since we moved in and things are looking better. I still wish for a huge tree.Oh well next house.Grow things,it will help you feel better.

It is certainly a shame when people go all chainsaw on what took years to grow. I still miss the tree I had to cut down, but it was 2 feet from the foundation and that is a no-no. He might miss some of those trees once they are down.

I bet he will concrete or gravel much of the yard!

Your are right - trees have to be large to sustain a deal of wildlife. I don;t see any of those wild bird here nesting in my spindly little apple tree!!!!!!!

Actually the fellow was turned down for planning due to the trees. He wants to biuld on the garden! He is a very greedy sad man who thinks only of money and nothing else. It is sad about the trees but what makes me more than angry is the fact that HE couldn;t even wait till breeding is over but instead deliberately killed and injured wild birds.

He has been reported to the RSPB.

It does seem pointless to cut them down and burn them.

People cut down trees for a lot of reasons. I have clients that harvest timber at a sustainable rate and will never cut it faster than it grows. Others want the big bucks fast but they all have to replant by law.

Have you asked the guy why he is cutting them? I am currently logging a parcel for a guy who owns a restaurant and is making space for greenhouses to grow his vegetables for his business because he has the land and wants good quality ripe produce. The trees are blocking the light.

Here we pay taxes on our trees they are considered property ie; property taxes and that gives us ownership.

Try talking to him but refrain from projecting an opinionated attitude, you may convince him to leave some. I have seen some folks pay the neighbor to leave trees but I do not reccomend that because the next guy may not honor the agreement.

I understand that some folk want to do other things with land than have trees. However if land has trees on it then why would someone buy that land instead of a flat piece of land if that was what they wanted??? Perhaps if your Taxes were on greenhouses instead of trees your client my not have killed the trees. If he is rich enough to own his own resturaunt then maybe he should have bought a flat piece of land for his veg instead of killing the trees and wildlife in them. Maybe he could have used that land better - like a garden for clients??? To sit out and enjoy while they eat!!!!!!! That would have encouraged families and brought in more money!!!!!! To many folk only see chainsaws and £/$ - Sad that some folk cannot see the longterm investment in the beauty of wildlife and nature around them. That is why so many acres of land turn into concrete every year!!!!!!! I do not have simpathy for anyone who buys land that is wonderfully mature in trees and bushes and then decides "that isn;t what they wanted!" They should not be allowed to butcher the land but rather sell it and MOVE to someplace more appropriate to THEIR needs. Not kill trees that have stood for 100s of years on a whim!!!!!! After all a man only lives for a fraction of the lifetime of some of our greatest trees!!!!!!

The land you live on use to be wonderful with mature trees and bushes. I do not know of any land except maybe the grass lands of the middle USA that could be completely flat and treeless.

Actually the land I live on used to be sea! You don;t get many trees down there. - We need to be looking forward and conserve the trees we do now have not looking back. We can never reclaim what our ancestors cut down and that is why it is so important that WE TODAY DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES - or there won't be enough trees left to give us the livable breathable atmosphere we depend upon. Anyhow we really won't be able to live in a land after the affects of global warming! Unless humans evolve into being cockroaches! They say that they "might" survive?

I do agree with some above. If he's doing this on your land, he can easily, easily be charged. If it's on his land, it's a disgrace, but unless there's a law against it, you can't do a thing.

Unfortunately it is on his land. The tree line runs up the back of his property that back onto ours. That is why we have had such a great priviledge to see the nesting birds.

The only thing that can be done is to report his crimes to the authorities sadly they are very slow to act even though he has broken the laws here.

Is there any reason you could not have planted trees on your lot? If you have been there a while you could have your own trees so no issues with the neighbor

It should be easy to find trees similar to the ones cut down, not in size and plant them so you control their destiny. Personally, I WISH the neighbor would cut down his protected oak tree. It is just a matter of time til it finishes ruining the shed, knocks down our fence and kills off 6 fruit trees that are barely hanging on.

I would LOVE to trim it, but I am afraid it will split and half fall on his rentals and we will be liable.

Not all protected big trees are wonderful neighbors.
