Are you insulating? the inside and especially the wall that will be getting the Sun in the summer?

You could put skylights in... that really lights up a coop and I think it helps them lay more.

Well, I was able to put OSB on exactly half the roof. Then it came time to measure for the next half of the rafters and my tape measure is missing! I have three tape measures, one is broken and the other two have mysteriously vanished. I have a beautiful weather day and no tape measure.
