My first mare XD
Very, very, well trained!
Bathes, clips, loads, trailers, fly sprays, etc.

I even got to ride her today. She works amazing off leg and verbal cues. Plastic bag-no problem. Loud noises, don't phase her. I'm just about falling over with excitement!

Put a down payment on her today, the rest is due on the 10th (we gotta fix fences first) when she's delivered. Also payed weeks worth of feed for her. The lady that currently owns her was incredibly helpful and sent me home with great info on training my own naughty boys

Pictures! I forgot to bring my camera, unfortunately, so these are from the Craigslist ad.

In today's economy sometimes it is hard to give them away for free.

I actually turned down a free mare.

Congrats on your new girl! She is beautiful!

What is her name?

There is always an add in the local paper around here that always says will take all unwanted horses for free. I think they are going to take them to the glue factory or something.

I can't believe someone could be so cruel, and people are actually dumb enough to give their horses to those people!

I feel like calling the number and asking what they are planning on doing with the horses.

as to the unwanted/ cheap horses
many people have lost their jobs and the ability to care for them. due to the closing of the slaughter plants in the US and over breeding the horse market has crashed. some people are turning them loose. at the local auction if you don't lock your trailer you will come out and find a surprise horse in it. at many of the popular trail riding places here they check your trailer when you enter and when you leave to make sure you didn't dump a horse. I have seen many nice horses that 5 years ago would have sold for $1200 go for $200.
