My Official Duck Hatching Thread (Update:More Pics!)

I am hatching 24 of Redhens mixed crested duck eggs....after candling their are 15 remaining and went into the hatcher today....I already have 3 pips...i'll keep you updated!

Awesome! I'm curious how long you'll have between pip and zip. Mine are always a good 24 hours, sometimes 48. Except one: in my last hatch, I partially crushed the top of one egg right before lockdown. That darn egg pipped, zipped, and hatched in the course of 6 hours--faster than any other egg. I was just glad it survived my clumsiness, but now I wonder what caused it to pip zip and pop so fast...

Anyway, good luck, and I can't wait to see pics!

Okay here is the first baby out as of this morning.....
Redhen had a variety of ducks, but did have a male magpie and female magpie.....one was crested too....I think this first duckling is pure magpie but didnt get the crested gene.

Now that i look at magpie ducklings pictures...I think it might be a cross between her magpie drake and rouen female....see the eye stripe?
