My peach pied is sick

Update- This sinus infection thing has gone to 4 birds now, three hens and a male. Two of which were pretty bad where we are afraid of them losing an eye. All four have made a trip to the vet for treatment. One he kept to keep an eye on her especially he said cause he is going out of town and his fill in vet does not treat birds . He strongly believes that it is being caused by one of the other peacocks picking on them so we have isolated the one we think could be the culprit. My vet is awesome, so far he has only charged me for the antibiotics which has been a toatl of $17 for the three that were sent home. The Baytril seems to be knocking out the problem rather quickly so hopefully we get this under control soon.

I hate to second guess a vet, but being picked on and having a respiratory illness would require different treatments and quarantine. Being picked on would have flesh wounds.....If it is spreading that fast between birds, I would bleach down everything, not walk in any pens, change shoes and clothes after handling and treat all birds on property. If puss is developing in the eye, out the nares and their is a bad bad smell about the face it would be likely Coryza, if not and their is swelling around the eye and sinsus with clear watery eye and nasel dicharge, then it would be a possible MG infection etc.... that once it starts spreading to other birds you risk it coming back time and time again and affecting all birds. Not to scare you, but if it is traveling to other birds it is to be taken seriously and acted on as with some of these infections they can remain a carrier.

Have seen many post were , people have taken their peafowl to a vet. with no help. You would need a vet that works with birds.....

Best of luck with your peafowl.........

Scary thing is that he does but maybe he needs to refresh up on his knowledghe base some. At least he has not been charging me for the office visits. Thank you for all your help. I am gonna go to TSC and stock up on some meds to keep on hand here. Scary thing is I had two birds look like that pic and it literally did that overnight.

It is nice that he is helping you w/o charging a fortune, but I know with taking chickens to vets, even "Bird Vets" many only know so much...... My one vet who is not a bird specialist helps me more than any "Bird Vet" has and knows a good deal, and what he doesn't know he finds out, and doesn't charge me an exotic fee like the others for a chicken, goose whatever. My livestock vet knows very little about birds but will help me any way he can, knows about different meds and I can meet him somewhere and buy what I need or have him write a script. He even operated on a swan for me and didn't charge me. I always try to consult with those experience people on here also and make my determination on the course of action taking all advice into account.

Ok so I have now decided to take this under control for myself. I went out and bought some Tylan 50 from TSC. Dosed the two birds showing syptoms with 1 cc down their throats last night. IS this a good way to do it or should I do more than 1 cc or inject it. How many days should I dose them. After should I start them with a live yogurt snack to help replenish good bacteria?? Thank you for your help!!!

the 1 cc would be for tyln 200...with the 50 3cc...yes best down the throat. Be sure to get pass the wind pipe..

Keep in mind I am not a vet, this is the way i have treated mine in the past. 3 to 5 days, should clear it up.

Thanks deerman, but I trust your judgement as you have raised birds for some time. Definately keeping an eye out for the windpipe. Thanks for your help!!!!
