You will need 3 square feet per turkey in your coop. My neighbor had 9 turkeys and they were very tame. You could pick one up no problem. They gobbled during the spring too. pretty cool.
I luckily found someone who gave me Victor. We now have also become the best of friends. I thought Victor needed a girlfriend so I have on order 15 turkey poults from Lazy 54 Farm. This was the only place I could find that sexed the breed of turkey I wanted. I had to order 15 due to shipping but have a list of names of people that want to buy the extras. No problem selling them.
SnapHappii- are you saying hawks got your turkeys? Could it have been something else? Hawks are strong but not that strong or brave. I see hawks every day but have not lost another hen since Victor came along.

The turkeys must be at least 3/4 grown or they are nor pred. proof. i've 16 turk's running around literaly, they will not go in a building. since we have had no problem with flying pred's including a bald eagle. We have owls, a lot of owls, one went after a lg bronze last summer (about 2 am) and lost, the owl not the turkey, they didn't kill the owl be he lost alot of feathers, I took the feather in to the DNR, and they told me it was a great horned owl.
I am new to having my own flock. i used to help other people in my family with theirs though. I am 13.Some people think im too young to raise chickens but oh well.So do any of you kno where i can get 2 or 3 turkeys.Btw Victor is so beautiful.
