My poor naked tailed little Roo

I don't think this was a molt at all. This was an attack. It happened too suddenly. Could be the hens, could be a raccoon reaching in, could be a weasel. The gaps don't look that big to me, but people are always saying to use 1/4" hardware cloth, meaning anything bigger than that can be penetrated. If it were mites, I don't think it would happen this quickly.

The gaps in the wood siding don't look large enough for a coon or other predator to crawl thru or even reach thru. My money is on the hens doing it.
Poor boy isn't just hen pecked,
HE'S BEEN HEN PLUCKED! :gig

I think the problem was an attack of some sort. Most roosters will fight to the death to protect their ladies. Lice looks like tiny white spots at the base of the feathers
I know a little bit of animals It doesn't make much sense. The predator does not only attack the rooster. Chickens must also have marks. If one cannot be reached, takes another. Above all, it is a scene where all the places are full of feathers. Each person clearly sees it as an attack. There is no animal who attack cockerel's tail or butt. Certainly there have to be first wounds on the neck. I have seen roosters fight to the death, they never turn their back. We live in area where is mink, weasel, stoat and fox. Last one dosn´t get in the coop, but others ... 0,78 inches and no problem to get through a crack or a net.

We have raccoons here and they will reach in and grab anything they can get their hands on and pull it right off. But, I agree with @EggWalrus, those gaps aren't big enough for any predator to reach through.

Ok, we have racoon dogs, but not racoons. Dont think, they are like dog breed. They are like racoons, we have problems with them, come near our farm and our husky goes on attack.
