My Poor Old Dad...

We are praying for you also, that your whole family would have a time of intimate reunion with your father before you have to say goodbye. Blessing and peace to you, Suz

Lunachick,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts are with you and your family.

What terrible news for you and your family. That is such a difficult situation. I'm sorry you are so far away, but glad you can get there this weekend. We will be thinking of you.

I totally understand his opting out of the operation.

I do hope that everyone gets to see him and tell him how much he has meant to each & every one of you.
Take lots of pictures so you can show the younger generation where they came from and if he is able, video him telling some stories from his youth. I wish I had something like that to show my Son and Grand Daughter about my father, who passed away when I was 12.

My prayers are with all of you.

Jean

Yes, record his voice and his stories somehow. I so wish I had done that with my mom. I have a tape from my Estonian grandfather which I treasure.

An aortic aneurysm is a weakening of the aorta to the point where it extends/balloons out. The aorta is the artery that leads out of the heart, where all the oxygen rich blood is circulated throughout the body.

At 92 years of age, it seems he has lived a long life. Hopefully he is satisfied and happy with his life, which is why he is ok with the end.

I hope you and the rest of your family, as well as your friends are able to meet with him soon.

Know that when the aorta bursts, there is nothing that can be done. Even in the healthiest and most fit people and immediate medical care, a burst aorta is a usually a fatal injury.

Best wishes to your father, you, and your family.

OMG - you guys are awesome. Thankyou ALL so much for your kind replies. This will buoy my emotional state like you wouldn't believe!

Royicus - I know, he's an old dude. He lived his life to the fullest, doing everything he wanted to do. I'm very pragmatic, I feel bad for anyone who has lost someone at a young age, that's worse.

I just want to make sure I see him before that thing blows, and I hope it happens when he's in bed, not standing up in the kitchen where he'll fall down onto the terazzo floor.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone!

This place has the best people in the world!
