Todays Recipe
Scrumptious Turkey Brine
I soak our bird every year and use a more complex brine that adds a ton more flavor and it isnt that hard.

Ingredients

-1 gallon vegetable broth (Recipe below, or buy your own)
-1/2 cup to 1 cup of salt (Depending on how long and how salty you want to brine it
-1 gallon of ice water
-3 cloves
-1 teaspoon sage
-1 teaspoon thyme
-A dash of cayenne

To begin
-Boil the vegetable broth cloves, salt, and herbs together
-Place your bird in a 5 gallon bucket, and pour the broth mixture over top
-Then pour in the ice water, and see if you cant give it a good stir.
-Let sit for 30 hours (1/2 of salt)
-Let sit for 24 hours (1 cup)

Dont add much more than 1 cup of salt because a broth contains a good amount as well.

Vegetable Broth

Everyone knows anything tastes better homemade and if you want the best brine I suggest you make your own broth
You can also add any veggies you have laying around to this recipe.

Ingredients
-3 onions halved
-5 stalks Celery cup in 2 pieces (leave the greens)
-1 pound carrots (No need to peel) Just cut in 2 pieces
-A few mushrooms (optional makes a darker broth)
-Bell peppers cut off the tops and leave the seeds inside
-Parsnips
-1 turnip halved
-2 Leeks (you need to cut and wash these good)
-1 sliced tomato
-Zucchini
-2 potatoes halved
-Any other vegetable scraps
-5 garlic cloves just smashed with a knife
-1 1/2 gallons of water
-3 cloves
-Black pepper corns
-1 bay leaf

-There is no need to peel anything the peel adds more flavor!

To begin

-Cut up all your veggies and add them to a pan
-Then add your pepper corns cloves and bay leaf.
-Then pour 1.5 gallons of water into your pot, you may not be able to fit it all just pour in as much as you can
-Throw in a 1 TBSP olive oil
-Boil until you get a good reduction
- Run it all through a strainer and save the veggies for yourself or the chickens!!!
