My sad mistake...

So sorry for your loss. I've been to NM, the winds there do get pretty horrendous.
Thank you. I've found 2x6 lumber blown up on my roof from dust storms. It's scary. Had to build the coop so it would withstand heavy flying debris.
I hope you get to a Dr for a follow up, the reaction you had doesn't sound right. My Parents & Hubby take/took the pneumonia shot & never ever got a reaction like you had. Take care
Even if my reaction was an outlier, which I guess it was, I wish I'd been told that it was still a remote possibility. If i'd known, I would have tried to schedule it so I could be out of commission for the better part of a week. Would not have done it during the fall when the weather is at its most unpredictable.

you can pick up everything on ebay ..uno5 board about $5 for a sensor $1 a stepper motor with a driver $ 4 ... try its ..its actually much more fun than you'll imagine ... its also programmable so you can establish at what temp to open .. how far you want it open and if it detects water ..closes automatically ... have fun!!
Can I ask you for advice as I learn?

I can't sleep and am browsing the forums late at night and found your thread.

Years ago I was bitten by a black widow spider and was completely incapacitated for a week, and sick for a while longer still. I had to crawl to feed my cats, but at night I don't think I had the strength to close the cat door and worried all week about them. They all knew to come inside and survived, thank goodness. But they were very vulnerable, and the stress of worrying for them but being so incredibly sick probably slowed my recovery.

And I lost a young hen last month. I can't say for sure, but my intuition tells me she reacted poorly to the freshly stained exterior walls of the coop. It was super hot, so I left the windows uncovered (just hardware cloth), which exposed the flock to the stain.

The stain is Hemp Shield. It's non-toxic and safe, but it does have an odor, and as someone who is chemically sensitive I would probably find it difficult sleeping near it during the first full day of it having been freshly applied. No time to cure yet.

Dune Buggy woke up the next morning with open beak breathing and gasping, which worsened, and I fear my lack experience in treating her may have led to her death. I still can't believe she's gone.

So in my own way I can relate to what it feels like to be responsible for the death of a dear animal friend.

I do hope you're feeling better, and I hope you find a doctor who respects you and treats you well and makes you feel welcome and appreciated.
Thank you so much, Carolina, and I'm so sorry you've had to go through all of that.

Make sure you do the whole 6 weeks of doxy but it may still persist, going dormant, coming back in a few years. If it does, see an ILADS recommended doc. Chronic Lyme sucks. I lost my career and my old life because of it. Trying to stay positive and rebuild around my new limited capacities but I wouldn't wish it on anyone...

i cant imagine the pain you deal with every day ... it really blows ... touch wood ...but hopefully have this thing out must system soon ..doc said it should be doing better in another 4-5 days... i'm assuming you were bitten by a tick ...did you leave it too long ?? did you not notice ??

You're experiencing illness already from a tick bite? I was bitten a few years ago in the underarm area. I felt a dull pain, no other symptoms. I hope you're okay.

wow you were lucky ... its knocked the wind out of me ..but coping ...first thing i did was fumigate the 4 legged carriers that sleep in my bed with me !

It really wasn't your fault, please don't blame yourself. You didn't know you would react and you did a good job making sure provisions were available.

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet girl! :hugs
