My sick chicken

I know you're on a fixed income, but I think you need to buy more Baytril and up her dose to 7-9 mg once a day. Do you have a credit card?

-Kathy
I cant get Baytril without a vet visit. Credit card is maxed. Did you take your birds to a vet? I cant do anymore MONEY please

This may be a little unorthodox, but I have a new bottle. I bought it recently for a sick hen, but she passed away before it arrived. If you are ok with it, pm me your address. I could share it with you or if you'd feel more comfortable with it still unsealed I'll do it. Think of it as a good deed of the day and when someone else needs a hand (and you're able) you can give them one.

I think that's a very generous offer.

Quote: You can buy Baytril *without* a visit to the vet, it's about $20.

Oral Baytril

Injectable Baytril (can also be given orally)

The dose for the medications above that I use is 0.09ml per pound (9mg per pound) once a day for five days.

Only my peafowl and turkeys turkeys get to go to the vet, and that's usually only if they aren't responding to the drugs I have here.

@Lynnsfarm , regarding your Baytril, I think your vet used 68mg or 136mg tablets and made a solution that's has 13.6mg per 1ml, Look closely at your bottle and I think you'll see that it says 13.6mg/ml, and that the dose to give your 6 pound goose was 2.3 ml, *not* 2.3 mg. If it says that, and you're sure your chick weighs 1 pound, the dose should be no more than 0.5ml.

My offer stands until tomorrow as I will be heading out of town for a few days. I would just hate for something to happen to your chicken if there's even a small chance it can get better with the correct doses. I can understand funds get tight, but I have it and as of right now I do not need it. Worse comes to worse I can reorder some for my first aid kit later :) After tomorrow I wouldn't be able to send it until Saturday, but I fear that will be too late.

Really I thought it was vet only as its illegal for chickens. I feel like an idiot. I have read so much all over internet. Thank you

Thanks! You are very kind. I so appreciate the help. God Bless you. I will definitely put it to good use. My sick bird is getting better by the day too! I sent you address in PM
Thanks again.

It's banned for use in poultry, but somehow these pigeon and game-bird places have found a way around it. Technically it is a prescription only drug, and eventually the feds will figure out a way to keep it from getting in our hands. FYI, one of those bottles will last you a very long time, much longer than the stuff your vet made for you.

ok yes I understand the mg ml thing. It was type error I think. My syringe is ml so in decimal value I think Im giving it 1/2 cc which is 0.50 shoot I dunno . its in 1/2 and 1 it goes up to 3ml.
I'll look at the bottle that Bay Peepers is sending. I think I'm close to right dose.
