My simple laundry sink fodder growing setup.

The seeds I used were black oil sunflower seeds that I picked up from the feed store.
My next attempt will be from a bulk foods store in my neighborhood. Will see what
they have. Good luck and have fun.

I'm using Oats I bought from the local mill. 50# for $12. It's taken 3 days for me to see any result though. Just last night I saw a root. Hopefully they'll keep growing. I had heard oats take longer to grow though.

Lol so I've been really wanting to do this for a while now and still haven't gotten to buying seeds, but I had some seeds from the garden last year so this is my attempt. Lol

Oats are VERY slow to sprout, but taste (according to my sampling) way sweeter than barley, which sprouts super fast.

Bulk foods seeds may sprout, but likely much more $ than the feed store.

So glad you got started.  Will check in to see your progress and share mine.
Love the info we receive on this forum.

I honestly have no clue how long they were supposed to soak, so they soaked for a few hours and I can see some of them have started to sprout. And I strained it and put it in sunlight. I'll soak it again tomorrow :)

I saw a growing system out of dollar store small tubs. Forgot to pin it and have been seaching for days to find another simple one. Thanks so much, I have ordered 100's of barley seed and we have several tons of oats for our horses. This will give me enough to feed our nine girls and 9 ducks at our sons place. I am also takeing care of 9 other girls that belong to a friend while they are on vacation for 6 weeks. This will be a nice treat for them. I took over some 4th cutting hay it was ok for them but not really happy about my offering. Thanks again

Id suggest at least overnight. then rinse as often as u'd like. My experience suggested that light isn't useful until they are actively growing and you want to green them up.
