I will post some pics of mine partially finished. This is for my 4 BEI's, i also have a quail pen that my call ducks sleep in at night.. All my ducks free-range in the yard all day with my chickens, so these are the pens that they sleep and breed in..

This pen now has a front door that opens to the ground so that the ducks can walk up it to come back in for the evening, or down it to free range in the yard all day, has been roofed, and any openings have been covered in 1/2 in welded wire for nighttime predator protection. I will post updates pictures when i can. It also is a "living environment" as the subsequent foot of dirt below the flooring and water has some tall grass seed in it. I hope it catches enough sun rays to grow up through the bottom.. It would be cool if the ducks were literally at home in the grass!!

but maybe he ment...
Blood test were done on all the birds before the start of the breeding season, and maybe with the the complete inventory at hand, he could fish out what he has??
Correct me if I'm wrong.

What I want to know is, how are they so quiet? My ducks quack if I come outside, if I go back in the house, if I feed them, if I leave their sight, or if anyone else moves through their field of vision. And the rest of the time they are chatting amongst themselves...

My quacks are loud only when they see me and they get all excited because I'm bringing them treats.
Then they quiet down when I talk to them.
They don't make a sound otherwise.
At least I don't hear them from teh house or anything.
But I have Runners.
Maybe they are less talkative??

Your very lucky to be able to have your experience and such goooorrggeeouuuss birds!! But I daresay after all the Holderreads years, they'd be a good judge of character when it comes to giving up their time

Well i guess i would have to say Thank You.. I truly hope that i struck Dave and Millie in a positive light, and im SO glad for having had the experience. It has already fostered alot of new additions to my yard, as well as preparations to accommodate more of the lil buggers!! Like i said, i need a really high quality Blue Fawn Drake, and a couple of extra BEI hens for him! Cant wait to make some Blue East Indies!!

They're here! I love the looks of them (even though I was warned that they were not in prime feather condition because of their weather up there. Sorry about the picture quality and the poo (bet you all have seen some of that before). My cell phone does not do justice to the shades of gray/blue. I'm really happy with them, but they are terrified of me right now. Hope they become friendly like my other two (hatched them).

this is Fred and Gene (who was Ginger). Gene has a malformed wing that he can't extend. They are 3 months old which is the reason they live inside (very cold winters here). Never again will I hatch in the fall!! 6 of those puppy pads a DAY and sometimes more. Let me know what you think. Thanks
