My wife found this in the middle of the road...poor thing! STILL ALIVE

Parents feed insects ebcause they are actually a really good source of protein, but a lot of times they swallow the insects and regurgitate to feed. That seems to work for them! I'm sure they run the risk of gettign parasites, but dog food has always worked well for me and it's what many rehabbers use. And you're right, easier too!

Am I correct that the yolk sac this lil' guy has is going to suffice for a few days? & is my temp correct for him too?

I think your temperature is probably fine. You can even go down to 98 or 99 if you feel it is too warm.

You are right about the yolk sac, but I would start tryign to feed him tomorrow. Sometimes they can be tricky to get to eat when they are so young so it may take you a few days just to get the little thing to eat. Start by tapping on the top of the beak gently and see if he'll open for you. If they were a little nmore traumatized by their journey from the nest, you may have to be a bit more forceful (Forceful in a very gentle way, if that makes sense). After a few times, they will get the hang of feeding.

Dunno, it was found a few blocks from here, & My wife hurried it over, knowin' that I could probably save it...& there are SOOO many birds & bird houses around, I wouldn't know where to begin to look...

Actually my wife raised a bluebird hatchling of the same size after cats destroyed the nest and killed the parents. She used water soaked cat food, fed with a tweezers every hour on the hour during the daylight hours. It was a lot of work but the bird eventually fledged. Good luck because it is going to be a labor of love and the bird may not make it.
