What that guy needs is a neighbor who is so rude and boisterous as to make everyone else seem like perfect neighbors. I would purposely go out of my way to tick him off. Not do anything overly nasty, but let my kids listen to their radio in the yard, and let them have lots of friends over. Let him see what it really is like to live next to inconsiderate neighbors. Make him mad, but not do anything that is not legally in your rights. Then after about a month of being loud and obnoxious, I would go back to my regular considerate ways. Then next time he complains about what you are doing, say it could be worse I could go back to the way I was. Maybe that will shut him up.
