Mystery injury

Can someone tell me what may have happened to my Roo? He's acting normal as far as I can tell. I found this under his wing yesterday, it's much larger an area than the photo shows(taking a picture under a wing by yourself isn't easy) it looks as though it's on the mend but looks similar to road rash to me. Is it an injury? Is he plucking? Or is this a disease I need to worry about my hens catching?? I put some homemade herbal salve on it for now.

Looks like in injury to me, but to be safe, can you see any mites or lice on him? I would probably give him a liquid dawn bath, then blow dry him. Poor thing..
