Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Some of you know, I started with Naked Necks for the purpose of taking them as 'far and away' from ASOP as possible. Now I'm trying to take the same line of birds back toward standard of perfection.
Except, that (single comb brown egg layers) just by itself is kind of boring to me : ) So I'm keeping frizzle going. These are a week old-ish.
Black and splash. They should be contenders : )

Haha sounds like you're going thru what I went through. As far away as possible, go nuts.. but then one line going back to ASOP-ish. Frizzled ones would be wonderful.

My ASOP-ish is LF, except as large/heavy as I can breed them(past the ASOP weights) and maintain some single combed colored eggers. on and off I think of ASOP type except with Fm.

One pen has Java guy with single comb NN girls --- the girls are on the small side. Another pen has frizzle single comb NN guy with (Jersey Giant x Java) hens.
I was going to put the single comb NN back together this generation, but decided it was better to cross out for at least one more --- to get the size up : )
(shhhhh...) I still like a pea comb NN better than a single comb NN.

There are many comb types I prefer to the singles.

Good move if not happy with size. Fortunately the NN trait is so easy to select for.

I'm mixed on combs. Think my preference is rose but I have the worst luck with this comb type- deformed, too large, grows flopped over etc, ugh.... so I don't even try with rose anymore.

I am not a fan of single comb on NN either. Its just so big with the waddles and all. I like them more aerodynamic looking. I would also like to get them to have shamo looking eyes with that intense stare.

We have 2 new NNs. We are new to chickens in general and ordered a batch from MPC. We had a few losses and when I saw these at the feed store I couldn't resist. We expected our neighbor would take one but he declined and we ended up with both. Any ideas on how on earth their coloring will pan out? The black one has a fluffy white rear lol and some red tips on her wings. They are now close to 2 weeks old.

and 2 shots of Jeeby. Jeeby has the sweetest personality of all 10 of our chicks. She is by far the most mellow.
