Congratulations! So adorable! I'd guess one will be light brown and the other will be black with red (to say, I'm not a good guesser). We have 2 new NNs. We are new to chickens in general and ordered a batch from MPC. We had a few losses and when I saw these at the feed store I couldn't resist. We expected our neighbor would take one but he declined and we ended up with both. Any ideas on how on earth their coloring will pan out? The black one has a fluffy white rear lol and some red tips on her wings. They are now close to 2 weeks old. Introducing Heeby and Jeeby![]()
Thank you! I'm really curious about it! I do think they are so ugly they are cute. They certainly seem like very very sweet chicks so far, so we are happy.Congratulations! So adorable!

I found a not so good picture of our 2 hens from when they were chicks and then a couple of current ones. The last 2 are from last year when they were still young but they show more of their bodies. They wouldn't back away from the camera the other day because they thought I had something for them...Thank you! I'm really curious about it! I do think they are so ugly they are cute. No problem! I can't get over how much they change either. The red turken had us convinced she was a he for the longest time! They have been a couple of our favorites though I do prefer the clean neck. The prettiest of the new chicks from this year don't have the clean necks I was wanting and the couple that aren't that striking do...I need to decide if clean neck is really that important to me.Oh wow - you are so awesome! They look very similar to mine as chicks and it is striking how different they look when older. I think yours are both beautiful, so hopefully ours will grow to be as gorgeous! I so appreciate these pics!!
I like the totally clean neck too, and neither of ours have that. I regret not looking more closely at the selection as these two we actually got in person. They were 100% an impulse buy though and I really thought my neighbor was going to take the black, so I just picked form the prettiest of the cream females. I wasn't familiar enough with the breed to even notice the fluff on their necks until later! I really enjoy their personalities though. Our buff one is easily the mellowest of all our chicks and is totally relaxed about being held and moved about, so I am attached to her no matter how ugly she ends up being or not! And thanks again for those photos. I spent a really long time studying them and your chicks and comparing and contrasting to my chicks! No problem! I can't get over how much they change either. You won't regret getting them and you will probably be hooked and always have them now, just a heads up...I like the totally clean neck too, and neither of ours have that. Typey WITH Fm --- oh that would be beautiful! And I don't see why it isn't 'do - able' ; ) {Although *reading* about Fm is beginning to make my head hurt (as well as being a pain in other parts of my anatomy)}Haha sounds like you're going thru what I went through. As far away as possible, go nuts.. but then one line going back to ASOP-ish. Frizzled ones would be wonderful. My ASOP-ish is LF, except as large/heavy as I can breed them(past the ASOP weights) and maintain some single combed colored eggers. on and off I think of ASOP type except with Fm.Some of you know, I started with Naked Necks for the purpose of taking them as 'far and away' from ASOP as possible. Now I'm trying to take the same line of birds back toward standard of perfection. Except, that (single comb brown egg layers) just by itself is kind of boring to me : ) So I'm keeping frizzle going. These are a week old-ish. Black and splash. They should be contenders : )![]()
