Puppy got out yesterday, and I got a photo before she realized I was watching. Second photo was after she saw me - I call it "Puppy on the run". (Today, I came home, saw her out form the window, and came out to call her name - she came RUNNING. She seemed to want a cuddle today.)

she looks like my laura when she had a tail, lol. she lays again but her tail feathers don't grow or maybe get eaten by my red sex link hens who do it for fun.

btw, we are in lock down. I am a bit scared but I have a friend I can call if I need.

There are several of us who have fm in our flocks. there are several breeds that can be used to bring it in. In my case silkie was used many, many generations back and not by me, but by the person who I got my original NN eggs from. I don't know about Uggums, but would guess she has some silkie in her.

I've actually been calling her a smooth SG. I got her from a friend, can't remember who the dad was, but mom was a silkie.

If I understand breeding for showgirls you can't get a silkie feathered one on the first generation cross, I think you would have to breed her back to a silkie roo, then either 1/4 or 1/8th'ish would hatch either for Nn and silkied feathers, Then when you select those siblings to breed you keep selecting those that have either /or both silkied feathers and Nn by the 3rd generation you can start seeing real improvement in how many hatch as silkied showgirls

This is my plan, if I can get a silkie roo to .. be a dude! I am not supposed to have roosters, but do use the collar for a while on those that start crowing..works for a while..on my LF that is! The silkies will crow, but don't mate. The LF will crow, mate, I get me some fertile eggs, then when they really discover how cool they are crowing, I have to place them. I have gotten some nice laying girls doing this. Free of charge, no ordering eggs, or getting chicks from a feed store.
I just wish this could happen for me with the silkies. I trim eyes, bums, everything to get them ready. I now have some nice blues, and splash babies. Hoping is a few months I will get a boy that will want to breed. And, that Uggums will let him, or won't be broody!
Boy she was bossy today. First day out since most of the snow melted. The chickens loved it! The were chowing down on green grass like a cow. I've been giving them spinach a few times a week while they were stuck in the run. They like it. Uggums has been making the broody sound for weeks. She's tried to stay in a box, I've taken her out, and she actually stays out and goes around clucking like a broody or mama..and..laying eggs! Today she spread her wings out at my RSL like she was chasing her off from her babies. You all know that cluck..cluck..cluck..sound when they have babies. She's so confused. I have some bantam eggs in now..I may put her in the broody area that she really likes, and let her have at it, then give her some babies in a couple of weeks. Weather should be fine for babies by then with a mama out there. She needs babies! She's a great mom.
