Have you ever thought to carve some faces in your “Mount Poopmore” ? Maybe faces of the royal family, or other Canadian leaders?
We were dumb enough to carve up a sacred mountain! :idunno:caf

The only thing they carve up is the poop - and like to dig the manure up and fling it about making a huge mess.

Havin' 9 of them over the yrs has been all the "proof" 'nough fer me😉!

My thought is, if it poops out those evil cecal poops then it's a chicken - proof enough for me!

My gang was doing that yesterday, getting underfoot when I was trying to unload feed. I was alternatingly worried about falling and breaking an arm, and falling and squashing a chicken! Those 25Kg bags of feed are heavy!

Ok, @BY Bob . New challenge, easier. Find the animal, and then guess what it is.

Grouse :)

OMG - well Google is driving me bonkers - won't let me log in, apparently my password is incorrect, then I did the stupid 2 factor authentication, and now they say I have to 'wait 5 days to be allowed access'....

Um NO! I will just give up posting videos, I don't need this horse doodoo, it's not the rootin tootin Library of Archives I am trying to access - it's stupid YouTube! Sheesh - they really need to re-evaluate their thoughts on exactly how important they really are! They are just a place to post silly videos of horses and chickens! Oh and Parrots.

I just 'replied' back to their email with a snippy email - oh I know a real person wont see it - but maybe one of those 'bots' will see it and self destruct with shame... ya... instant meltdown, takes all of google with it!

OK and the whining tax:

Wishing we had some ground showing...

OK well seeing as how I cannot post the video of the gang out on Mount Poopmore yesterday, I will just say that they had a blast! Made a huge mess kicking manure all over the place. Good times!

Going to go and let them have more Mnt Poopmore time! Have a great day everyone.

Grouse (Ptarmigan) as far as I know have never been domesticated or bred for meat purposes. They seem rather quiet and docile in the wild and rely upon standing still to evade predation - no match for automobiles unfortunately!

As for crossing with chickens I would have to say no, even if a male where to breed a female I would say that the cross would likely not produce any viable eggs, or the offspring would be sterile like a zebra x horse (or horse x donkey).

But if it were possible I bet they would look something like Henny Penny!

Or would they moult twice a year and bounce between white and quail?

Dove down the rabbit hole. Most comprehensive (and reference sited) site I found.

https://backyardpoultry.iamcountryside.com/poultry-101/poultry-hybrids-zm0z24jjzols/

Searches for chicken x Ptarmigan or chicken x grouse otherwise came up blank. I did find a site in Idaho that breeds assorted species of grouse, but no Ptarmigan currently listed.

Hi everyone!
I'm sorry that I haven't been here in a really long time, but I've been really busy. I attempted a hatch around Christmas, but my old incubator failed about halfway through and I don't have a backup so all the eggs died.
Now I'm looking for another incubator, new or used. Does anyone know where to get good incubators? I'm also thinking about getting a backup since the failed hatch.

Well hello! Indeed a long time.

Sorry to hear about your incubator, I think my niece bought her on Amazon- it only holds 12 eggs and it’s a cheaper one, but she hasn’t had any issues with it.

I’ll get the name later on - at the barn right now.

Heart breaking 😞
