Please feel free to ask any Q's, or to clarify something I said etc.(that goes for everybody here) I need to learn how to give much shorter and better answers...
Nava- putting two birds together just to see what happens is very fun and could be educational too! I would encourage that! That's what I did pre-internet, with almost everything I could get my hands on. Those 'let's see what happens' was my foundation for learning and understanding the basics of genetics... REALLY wish there were digital cameras and was better at storing pictures off the computers 'way back then'.

I still learn that way sometimes. There's nothing like hands-on learning.. sticks way better and longer than something one only read about. There have been times where I read something, thought I understood it.. only to have an 'aha!' moment after doing a crossing.

I know what you are talking about, I'm having a lot of fun here, and I don't know what i'm doing most of the time but FUN!!!!!
did you see my Muave pullet?
at least I think she is, she is going to get paired with the black NN dad and will see what comes out
Oooo Nava! I love the splashes and the blues. I'm kind of glad I'm far enough away I can't make your swap --- otherwise I'd be there bright and early.
I've got some funny-looking ones coming up. They make me smile.
Wish me luck with this weeks hatch, got a couple doz eggs with potential NN chicks on Day 18. I'm *hoping* to get a blue barred frizzle NN green-egger from this group (barred NN green-egger hen with splash frizzle NN green-egger roo).
I can't help it. I've just gotta show off my babies some more!
I know I say this each time I upload, but... Anyone wanna take a guess at colors? I'm having so much fun watching them feather out!
I'm also quite certain they're plotting against me while I sleep. Quite frequently I will hear them all cheeping like crazy, but when I look up, they all go silent, staring at me!
There are going to be some interesting pictures on this site over the next few months. I DO look forward to the pics.
I've got both blue pullets and cockerel (grandfather was a splash Brahma), and a little lavender chick who is an NN cross. I also have a creamy white (now with brown and black flecks!) NNcross cockerel.
Nitrostreak....what were the parents of the last bird? I have a none NN chick with exactly the same feather pattern and don't know the parents.
I am not quite sure what I'll get. Even with Kev and others' very knowledgeable help, heredity can throw up some very odd surprises.
