Naked Neck/Turken Thread

My only naked neck-type chicken, a bowtied showgirl who recently has revealed himself to be a cockerel. He has some funky fused 4/5 toes so I most likely will never breed him with my nice white silkie girls. I'll still keep him though, he's a character.

For the longest time I thought it might be a pullet because of the way it bonded so much with one of my young cockerels. It slept underneath his wing for weeks. But then the streamers popped out, and I stopped fooling myself. Oh well, I still love the oddball. One person who visited asked me if I shaved his neck! Here he was as a chick, and a pic of him snuggled underneath his surrogate cockerel "mother" (he's on the left, you can see his little dark eye, along with an itty-bitty white button quail who also thought the sweet silkie cockerel was its mother!)

Gorgeous little guy! That is funny about you how he bonded with another rooster. My white showgirl rooster and a white silkie rooster are bonded like that as well. They even raised a chick together. I must say their baby turned out to be the most well adjusted chicken I have. LOL The two roos are still best buddies and they will be 2 years old soon.

This is my bird with the clogged nostrils. Sissy a Polish which are know to have cavernous nostril and to not know enough to stay inside when it rains. So they get wet crests and clogged nostrils. (I guess) I want to breed her to a NN rooster as soon as I can get eggs form Kassaundra and get a lovely NN rooster. ha ha
She is beautiful! I can't wait to see the little NN babies!

Two eggs in 1 day: different nest box different looks as well, one was Tan pale more on white side then brown, other one was Brown.... scrambled them with Rice and Oats for chickens Pm treat.
Did not take pic

Beautiful girl, she will make pretty babies.

Yes it could be from the same hen. the NN are known to lay well even during the shortened days of winter, so it could be her. Does she have a white chest? It looks like it in the last pic. My 2 NN are plain ole red....not saying it is bad, but I like variety in the coop.

On Reba : White Chest ? IDNK . . . Yes seems she does around under her tie and lighter down chest feathers LoL what feathers any NN have.

And I forgot about one hen that was lethargic and not eating or drinking. I isolated her and hand fed yogurt and water until I recognized that her nostrils were clogged. After I cleaned out her nostrils with a "q" tip she revived and started to eat on her own. But I feel that if I did not intervened she would have died. But that case was very simple.
I've kept them inside spare room as I'm treating Mom for Scaly feet and underweight. Meds are Vitamins and Start/Grow medicated crumbles. on demand

Kassaundra, how old would you guess them to be ? they have feathers on top and body is down like fuzz. I'm thinking a few weeks old. as these are my 2nd set of Chicks with Mom
I defer to your and others NN knowledge.

I'm not sure about near death, they were Bones with feathers true. they all appeared un ill " moving around - clear eyes no discharge - stool normal enough - chirping " no obvious signs of injury. ( THO as I recall there is this Reoccurring un disciplined child, left to grab what ever small animal that's within reach. ) How long after say ...... getting Squished, "if your sensitive " being held in little hand HARD !would it take to show symptoms ?

I'm determined to getting mom healthy enough to go out in Big Coop ASAP. if I can get her Feet cured that is Then just Overwinter Chicks.

To be honest...in the past, I said nothing about this type of bird because anything I might have said would have brought howls of anger but I can say now....they are beginning to 'grow' on me. Don't know what I'd do with one or more of them but I do enjoy seeing these types of pics.
