Naked Neck/Turken Thread

aaaaaahhhhhh, what a lovely age:) make sure you enjoy it!

btw did you find any good idea about nest boxes? my nests are super cheap and I find them useful. I put old tyres, put some wood shavings in it and a big cardboard box over it. I sometimes find 2-3 hens together, lol.

I didn't find anything that I liked. I actually have something in my mind since I have 1*2 m and don't need too many boxes, I was thinking two, one of top of them. I will try to make a sketch tomorrow. I can't fit a tire in my coop and cat boxes, I had them before, but didn't like them, no real reason, I just felt weird collecting eggs from there.

I guess what I mean is that I don't want whatever the pullet's coloring is to completely suppress all CL coloring. My brain can't hold on to the dominance of some colors/genes over others. I don't want to cross a black pullet with Dumbledore and get all black chicks that look like their mama with no hint of CL, I guess, and same with a red/buff pullet... :rolleyes:

@Fire Ant Farm
A whole lot depends on what is in tge background.

My Black crossbred hen that I bred to my single barring gene Black Sex Link NN rooster produced from 4 that hatched that I kept were as follows:
Cockerel: Brown Red
Cockerel: Golden Birchen.
Cockerel: Don't know what to call it dark nearly black with dark red and creamy/white color all mingled together.
And
Pullet: hatched a partridge color not turned out to be a barred partridge.
All 4 were a different color and there were no solid black ones.

The crossbred hen was a Black Jersey Giant dad and mom was an EE/Production Red Cross.

 I'd like to ask if  CCL are supposed to be red duckwing(e+) or partridge(darkbrown or eb)?

@Kev I think they are probably BBR as the original cross was with brien leghorns if I'm not mistaken.

I think CCL roosters carry only one barring gene. Just don't quote me on that because I'm not totally sure.

It;s more than math for me. I like easy to clean and portable if need be.

how many nest boxes do you have?

I have 3 only in 3 different runs (small areas). I also move my broody at night, just lift her up and put in the crate with the eggs. when she feels the eggs under her she calms down. if I had more chickens I would probably do the things the way you are doing. so with my pet chickens maths is in the first place.

@Kev or who ever.
Is thus considered Lemon Blue?

The color looks a little orangey to me.

Nothing really wrong with her face...just a little red from draye having to slap her around just a bit to get her to pose for the pic.

I don't know about the colour but is her face a bit swollen?

I think it was just the angle if the picture. She raised her head high as I snapped the photo.

I really am not seeing anything that even looks like there is anything wrong.

I think it may just be the angle of the photo taken, but it does look a little lump like....

There is a little hook thingy at he top of the cage that holds the door open that I had engaged, so maybe that is what you're seeing.

I don't slap them around. They live me and pose for me on command.
