WHAT Y'ALL THINK? Pullet or Cockerel?

supposed to be a Pullet according to theses linked cross.

Daddy:

Spangled Aloha.

Mama:
Can't find the picture. She's a Silver though.
I vote pullet. I think that cockerels already have red wattles and big red comb at that age. the shape of the comb looks girlish to me.

A little red Pullet. See full sister posted on the Mottled Calico NN thread.
She most likely carries the mottling gene as her sister is showing it.

Daddy is the Cinnamon rooster posted previously.

Mama is a Red Aloha hen.

I second this. Looks like a pullet to me too.

Nice birds @draye ! It looks like you're making great progress.

Hi everyone. .....

Been having a difficult time in my search.......looking for some Bantam Turkens....white, blue, splash. I am in Northern Virginia.

Any help in the right direction is greatly appreciated!

am I the only one that has always been in love with the NNs?

Not sure how I would qualify for this. I was ordering chicks from a chick catalog(McMurray) and was picking the 'weird' ones like polish, modern games etc... the catalog has the ugliest pic you could ever possibly make of a NN.. so I was intrigued yet very turned off by that picture. Ordered just a pullet. It very quickly became my favorite and got me hooked on the breed. Did not love the pic but sure loved the very first NN I ever saw in person(that pullet chick)

Solid Black NN Pullet:
I cannot find any other color leaking on her.
She has a very large bow tie and a curved tail feather. Looks nearly identical to her mama.

Black cockerel. He has red leakage in his wings right now. Not sure if he'll develope more or not. I've about decided I need to cull him and look for a solid black. I was keeping hoping for a solid black to breed to my blacks/blues and whites. I'm afraid the leakage will just continue down the line.

A picture of his wings and the leakage. It is black but the sunlight hitting it makes it look blue.

The above Pullet and this cockerel are full siblings.

Here's daddy:

and I thought I had a picture of mama but can't find it. She is solid black though.

@Kev

Yea leakage is a big problem. You mentioned white and white jersey giants- breeding back to the giants will help a *lot* with solid blacks and whites. It will show up in a fair number but it would still be less number than using that cockerel with other black NN.

1st whit Pullet.

2nd white Pullet.

Not a lot to say about these two. Have lost the black splotches of grandma and mama. A goal of mine in breeding White Naked Necks. Next goal is to improve size. Mama is real big maybe 5 and 1/2 pounds, six at the most. Goal is to have a 7 to 7 1/2 pound hen. Got yo figure out how to get some White Jersey Giants. I think that would improve size, and hopefully won't mess up the feather colors again.

Here's daddy:

He's a Columbian color with a sheen of red leakage on his back and hackle and saddle feathers. This is what folks are calling Cinnamon.

and mama:
I'd like to own the white. eta>>>bottom white.

Thanks. Trying to work really hard on them.

Congrats!! :)

Thanks. They're coming home today.

Hopefully I'll have a large hatch on my white next year. So far I've only gotten the above 2 pullets from her. So we'll see how they grow out.
