Wow, he is quiet. I have a friend who had one done..I'm honestly not sure if was done in our state..which I doubt..or where it was. He didn't work out as well as this guy. He was more quiet, but still had quite a crow. Darling big Frizzle boy.
This little one I have in the brooder now, the baby that I just showed..is one that I would love to keep for a while..if it's a boy. And if it's a girl. So sweet! Those funny long legs! I am going to name it Pippy as someone suggested here. I've been calling it that..best be a girl I guess. I guess if it turns out to be a boy, I can call him Piper.
Would love for a surgery to work on a couple of roosters. Two roosters..how would it be? I want a silkie rooster too.

There is some after care that is ness. to follow precisely. One of the reasons he started decrowing them and mailing them when their new voice settled. I have heard of a vet in Phoenix who does this procedure, but w/o as much success. There may be other vets around that do the surgery, this vet has made new and improved tools for more success and less deaths.

Does this decrowing make them not be able to make sounds at all? Like say somethings flying and the sound they make to warn the hens?

No, they can make all other rooster / chicken noises, just not crow loudly.
