@Kev ...I'm still looking for the other two vids that show the whole business in detail. I agree, it doesn't require so much penetration.
Both birds must be manipulated...by stroking their bodies and working them up. Once a cock bird has been conditioned, he delivers quite a load of sperm. Both cock and hen should be housed separately I think...but for certain the cock must. Not really sure if the hen can be kept with other hens or not but before I try this, I'll know a bunch more than I do now.
It is much easier if the rooster is isolated with no hen. Higher semen samples too. However, even with that it varies- some give samples easily after a couple tries. Others are very stubborn about it.
It does not matter with hens.. they can still be with other hens or even with a rooster because it's an automatic reaction. Manipulating to get them into 'condition' isn't necessary.. I grab the hen right there in the pen, if she reacts by squatting that is perfect because it means she is "ready", exposing her vagina, just hold onto her tail so she will stay squatting and keeping it exposed, then squirt it onto the vagina. That;s it. The petting, shaking whatever is unnecessary but might be if she refuses to squat or evert.
as for the hen, yep with her feet still on ground. Lift tail, squirt it onto the everted vagina, let her go. no need to lift her up and set on lap or something- that actually might put her off especially if not used to being handled.. that hen in video was no longer everting by the time he flipped her over- she was fully everting by the time he got her. all that manipulation was unnecessary waste of time.
