Naked Neck/Turken Thread

You know, I'd really like to get pea combs and green eggs into my NNs. Need to find some nice big Ameraucanas (and NOT have them get eaten by a fox).

why not using Goodwin's chicks for that?

OMG, I just read the previous post and it sunk in - I have TWO batches of chicks coming next week, all NNs. 25 chicks per batch. 50 chicks around the same age.

I must be out of my mind. Excuse me while I go hyperventilate in a corner...

Cutest thing ever...A daughter came by with her boys today. One of the boys sees the eggs that I had gathered so far on the counter. He comes up to me and asks..Grandma, did you paint those eggs, or did they come out that way? So cute! Children are amazing with their great questions about interesting new things to them.

Whites? Here is my favorite from the past. She was a big girl.







Here is another white I had..smaller, but still pretty..I love the whites.

I LOVE white NNs, but I still don't have any. I told my husband I'm breeding towards having whites so I may have to do a fair amount of hatching to finally get one. He suggested I just order some NN chicks from a hatchery that I know breeds whites...until I told him I'd have to order at least 25 chicks and there's no guarantee I'd get a white. He just sighed, shook his head and laughed. "Looks like we'll be eating a lot of chicken," was his final response.

This is the closest I've come to a white NN so far. Mom was a White Rock and Dad was a buff barred NN:

My husband caught me watching all of the chicken porn videos that were posted here lately and looked at me very accusingly. I told him I'm not confident that Tubbs can get the job done without help, and I really want to cross him with some of my NN girls. He mumbled something about me being a dominatrix and walked away, LOL!

To get the most white, should I cross him with my mostly black NNs?

One of my buff NNs, Duckie, has either Orpington or Cochin blood in her. I always love her fluffy feathering and regal look. She gave me a gorgeous cockerel with feathered legs.

I'm hoping to use my sex-link Nn boy and cross him over the two buff-ish girls I have, as well as my black English Orps (one is actually gypsy-faced and has the most beautiful fiery eyes. ) and over time create something both meaty AND fluffy. I breed so closely to standard with other birds I just play Dr. Franken-chicken in the NN breeding plans
