A few mediocre pictures of my new "Showgirl Pair" I loved to be reassured about the sex of each ?

The male with his wonky crest, I love the skin part and his hugh bowtie

The pretty female, she seems very sweet

Showgirls are the um... royalty of chickendom?

I agree, the showgirl looks like a pair. Males as a general rule have funny looking(more slicked back) and smaller crests than females. Did you know you can breed showgirl to silkies and get half of each? Naked neck gene is semi dominant.

So far I read over half of this thread and I must say that all of the birds are pretty.

KKH you one little barred pullet is very pretty and has the personality to go with it. Ugly sisters have ugly personalities .

I am enjoying my little "pair" I am amazed at how sweet they are. I will be fun to watch them grow up. I haven't had Silkies in over a decade and they were integrated into a larger flock. I did not have the time to observe and interact with my birds. Now I have more time but I have not thought far enough ahead to breeding them.

My cockerel, Mort. is clearly starting to fill with adolescent hormones. He has just started to crow.....first day he crowed perfectly, but the last couple of days he sounds as though he has a cold, but this doesn't deter him. Yesterday he sidled up to my Blue Partridge Brahma boy who stands several inches taller than him and is a whole LOT heavier AND has lots more feathers. Out goes a black leg, out goes the wing waving provocatively, head goes down, starts circling. Blue Partridge NOT impressed. But Brahma being Brahma he decides to walk away, head held high, but clearly having lost a bit of dignity.

A little later I took these two pics of Mort dozing on a stump with one of the girls, Frankie. Frankie seems to be saying "Are you just interested in HIM and now you are just going to go to sleep? In which case I am going to straighten my hair!"

I am not amused.

I'm going to talk to that Blue Partridge in a minute.......

Does anyone know if there is an effort underway to get blue approved as a color in the standard of perfection for NN's?
