Naked Neck/Turken Thread

So sorry to hear about Frankie. She was truly lovely. It's sad when it's a favorite....and it always seems to be the favorites for some reason.

I'm so sorry to have lost her to such a horrid disease, but she seemed to be fairly reasonable even on the day before she dies, still perching on the window ledge with her sister and eating treats. I have an unrelated NN chick (admittedly with rather a large bow tie), but I will remember Frankie for her quiet and friendly manner.

hey wowwwww what ebautiful birds!!! you have any eggs for hatching from them or anything??? super cool bird! my naked neck would love a mate!

okay you guys are not gonna believe this one or me lol. I had another chick hatch and I know the roo is my NN, well i found out that his dad was a black naked neck and his mom was a jubliee RIR. So who knows what color of chicks he'll throw right. Well that one hatched and its doing very well its with my friend Robin

. and then I had another egg well I had to help a little bit . the mom could be my australorp, or any of the RIRs, but the chick is all black and looks like a regular chicken. Now there hasnt been any other roosters cross my heart. No other rooster could get into that coop or run.... ... here is the chick,,

Since the parent with the NN was not a pure NN (he is 1/2) and the other parent is not NN at all at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the chicks should not look NN but may carry the nn gene. JUst because the chick is black, well who know what color it may develop as it grows.

Cant wait to see if it does change color

its sister was the same color and had the same white tipped wings and white belly... I had another chick but it didnt make it not sure what happened and it was a nn

About color I do not know. But I wonder do you know that NN means pure naked neck. And nn means that the chicken carries only one naked neck gene.

I found this pix on an SD card I thought I lost. These guys are my roosters I bought
at the flea market that were supposed to be pullets. They are about 8 weeks old in
this photo. Who says NNs are ugly!
