Okay, here's what I just posted on the SFH thread:
I have some info on genetics filed away and found this tidbit of information under Diluters of Black and Gold - lav -- lavender.-- recessive. Black becomes gray and red feathers become cream.
In the case of my chick the grey is grey and the red is red, not cream. So I would conclude that the color is from blue and not lavender.
Kind of sounds like I know something doesn't it?
Now someone else will come along and tell me I'm totally off.....
@ Hamburg, I bet those would be some big beautiful productive birds! Welcome and can't wait to see what you do. In addition to the wonderful attributes already mentioned, they tend to be very friendly birds. For those of us that like to cuddle our critters that's important
