Naked Neck/Turken Thread

As far as I can remember there would be a chance that 25% of the offsprings would result in pure naked neck or NN and 50% of Nn or one gene of naked neck and the other 25% without naked neck or fully feathered. But Kev, Lisa or DDD and Nava are the real experts here on BYC NN thread. I do dabble but am just learning. Look for the SOP on the National Poultry ASSo. Groups.
Flower, is it possible (and I really really don't remember my genetics, I REALLY need a book) If you do NnxNn you would get NN? Or is that a third generation thing, or just not going to happen? I would really love to show Naked necks, but I know the SOP criteria, I want to know if it's possible or if I need to find more birds to work with?

See Kev heard you decided to inform us. He know a great amount of this stuff. (genetics) by reading and by practical work. Kev is a scientist !!!!!!

You are both awesome :D Thank you! I'm going to grab a genetics book next time I'm out so I can get a handle on the Punnett squares again.

I had originally posted this on another thread, but it hasn't gotten any responses, perhaps someone here might see it and give me a clue. ;)

Wasn't really sure where to post this, so I will put it here. I just received 6 naked necks from MM hatchery. For sure one is black, 3 are a light color, not really a white, more of a buff. I would say kinda blonde, like the color of a mature buff orpington. Then there is one that appears to be a bit darker, but not really red. And finally, the one that I am really wondering about is blonde, but with some dark spots on her head and two marks down her back, not complete stripes, but not random that are much darker almost black. Any idea what color she will be? To be honest, she reminds me of a chipmunk...kinda like the EE chicks. Perhaps she could be a mix of an EE and NN???

Thanks in advance for any help.
PS...I just love the chick that is in front of her... so tired she just had to sprawl out on her belly and stretch her legs. So dang cute!

I got a pic of a rooster that looked like that back in his young days

I"ll go look for it and post it so you can see what it Might look like

as for the ee-nn croos I'm not so sure about that, since the chicks legs are yellow.

I would love to see your picture. She sure is a cute little thing. The other NN that came in this bunch are all solid, she really stands out.

i need some help with genetic, i really love mottled (black and white) chickens ,so i really want some mottled nn hens,i think these are my choices
1) i have anconas, mottled java and exchequer leghorn ,it would be better to use a white nn roo or a black nn roo.

2)black nn hens with non nn white roo

3)white nn hens with non nn black roo.

4)black non nn hens with white nn roo

5)white non nn hens and black nn roo

6)black nn hens and white nn roo

7)white nn hens with black nn roo

and if i use non nn roosters and hens what breeds are the best ,

i have 3 white nn hens
i have 5 black nn hens

but i have 2 nn roos one barred and one blue with yellow

As far as what I have read about whites and blacks, both if they are non-dominate or have one or each feather colored gene, neither are pure any color but other colored genes are hidden by the white and black. Si if it were me I would use a variety and sample the results. I would use a mottled Java Rooster over black NN hens. Then I would use any roosters from that mix and breed them back to the hens from that mix. In the meantime I would use a mottled Java rooster over white NN hens and breed bak the same way. But this is just my "guess". As I really do not know much.
