My NN are 9 weeks old now! I love them

My flock of Naked Necks are now on the verge of laying, in fact I think one is since this morning I found two eggs, instead of my usual one!

And my boy is finally starting to act like a rooster.

She also has some really different coloring, she started out a buff chick, feathered in white and with this last molt turned buff, but has some barring on her too. Plus her little tuft on the back of head just makes her so cute.

Lolly, my only one I know for sure is laying, she is 1 1/2 yo and was the one that made me want a whole flock of Naked Necks. She is such a sweet girl.


Cookie, I really like her coloring too, she keeps getting more and more black mixed in with her red.

Georgia Boy 1970...I particularly like Kahn....what were his parents?

I have been unable to break my ever-broody Blue Partridge Brahma hen, and, given that with my last broody hen something went wrong right at the end such that her chicks died in the shell, I am giving her some eggs. I put 8 in the incubator a week ago as I felt it was unlikely that I would break 3 broody Brahmas, 6 show good embryos. Two of the eggs belong to my oversized black NN,Blackchops so I am hoping to hatch some this time.

I opened the eggs of one of the last failed hatch and found a gorgeous very naked (but alas very dead) chick.
I have my fingers crossed.

Thank you very much. I am thinking it's a pullet by comparing her with the others. She just hung out on my lap for the longest time today.

I think pullet too. There would have been a lot more facial furniture and she looks feminine with her slim neck. (I hope my fateful words don't mean she will crow for you the moment you see her).
