I'd love to have a roo like him! How old is he? Does the person that you got him from sell and ship hatching eggs?

I dunno, she just might! Lol. He's still got a honk type of crow, not really loud yet. I saw him nail Scarlett yesterday so he's working his way up through the flock. So far he's not crazy with humans.

One of my chicken buddies in a non chicken related chat room saw a picture of a Naked Neck and she said they were ugly. Not many people seem to like them. My favorite chickens tend to be the ugliest or the outcasts.

I didn't like them at first when I started seeing them on this site, but after I started reading so many good thing's about them being disease resistant, and having the less feathering where they can take our hot desert summer's better, I decided to give them a try. They also lay nice sized eggs well. I tested out a few breed's here this past summer, and the Naked Necks came out on top. Now I want to sell all of the feathered necked one's that I have, and go with just the Naked neck's. Those naked neck hatchling's are the cutest little thing's with what look's like little pom-pom's on the top of the head.

The rooster's across the street from me, and also on the other side of the road in back of me have rooster's that crow louder then his daddy does. Those Breese roo's that I had also crowed louder then Charley does.

I like the less feathers for plucking in meat birds and the heat tolerance. As far as being a regular chicken I like them as much as any other chicken. What a chicken looks like means so little to me. Even the ugly chickens are still living beings. Besides I tend to bond with the oddball in every flock better than I bond with the more normal looking chickens.

I used to have a website that red heritage selectively breed to have high meat qualities and they had Naked Necks but this was 5 years ago and I can't find it now. Probably not in business or buried in the crappy versions of search engines we seem to have now.
S&G used to have really heavy NN's I hear, like broiler sized. They closed down but sent their stock to Dunlap in Idaho, along with their regular red broilers. The NN's aren't listed on Dunlaps site right now because they stopped selling them for a year as they grew out new roosters for breeding. But I contacted them and they said they will be available again this Spring.
