I would be interested in something like this too- We were also told that we had cherokee in us and then I found out my great granddaddy came here from somewhere in Texas instead of E. Tenn like I had thought for a long time. So I don't know about the Cherokee. We also were told that were Black Dutch and on another side of the family they said black irish- Who knows ?
Last year A female elder who stopped by where we were having our flea market every week, singled me out and started asking me questions about my heritage. I really couldn't give her any specifics because I really don't know-- Then she asked me to see my teeth. Strange I thought but I didn't care so I opened my mouth and she looked in and said yeah definitely native blood. I would really like to know more about my lineage but I have no idea where to start. Has anyone ever heard of someone looking at your teeth and determining your ancestry? I don't necessarily have a lot of faith in the teeth thing , but I don't entirely dismiss it either as I have not had any info on this kind of thing. I knew that they were using genetics to trace ancestry to areas of Africa , but have not heard about genetic tracing for native americans.
Would really like input and info on this subject--Wayne
Oh I forgot to mention I did a search for some of the surnames ( that I knew) and found out some of the origins. This has been a while and I hope my memory is correct--
Hollowell---Dutch
cudd- irish
chamberlain-- english
bettie--irish
adams--i forgot
phillips-- i forgot
cash--forgot too
She was looking to see if you had Asian Shovel teeth, people with Native American Hertiage most often(but not always) have Asian Shovel teeth. I got them...
< SEE ....lol. The inside of the upper set of the front teeth are more concave and have kinda like a ridge along the top.
Hey, we might be cousins of sorts.....My grandfather was a Cudd.
ey that's great !! I didn't know what she was looking for. But she said definitely. So maybe the what the old people said was true--Wish they did have some kind of genetic testing . Searching family trees and trying to put together the history and locales of all the different tribes is way too complicated for me. Especially with all the movement at different times of a lot of the groups.
The side of my family that came up from Texas is the Bettie side. My grandfather ( Charlie Mitchell Bettie) married my Grandmother (Jeanette Sue Cudd) . He was Mr. Charlie to everybody and everybody called her ms Nett. I don't know where her people came from ( the cudds) . Maybe some of her people came with his people as a group.. So maybe we are cousins--
If you are a little crazy--maybe we are related!! lol
