Happy to see that the remaining ones are doing better, but as someone made mention earlier, I think the breeder either knowingly or not sold you sickly chicks. my 15 hatchery silkies are now 15 days old, plastic brooder, heat lamp, have been through drastic weather change.... yet with the exception of little hoppy all have nearly doubled in size, have shown age appropriate development, and zero health issues despite my lack of experience and not necessarily doing everything “right”. I think I may even have to move many of them to a larger space sooner than planned because many of mine are reaching an activity level that leads me to believe they may fly out of the brooder! (something i didn’t see as a possibility from all the research i did that described silkies as docile and poor fliers!). They are adorable little stinkers for sure! I just hope this experience hasn’t deterred you from continuing to build your flock!

The breeder was inbetween moves, so I think that may of been why they all came to me sick. I just see this as a learning experience. Now I have so much more information I can use towards my future chicks:) Yours are adorable by the way!

My buff keeps climbing onto the cave and trying to jump out of the brooder... Probably going to need to get that bigger one built sooner than I thought
They grow fast!

You could get some hardware cloth and cut a roof/ceiling for the cage, to block them in.

Yeah, mine did that, too. I had to put a piece of fence over it... then I moved them to a large wire dog crate not long after.
i’m trying to decide the best time to move mine to the wire playpen. i just know that my standard chicks could still squeeze through that wire at 2-3 weeks so i’m trying to figure out the best way to keep these little guys from doing that.

Do you have hardware cloth laying around?
You could wrap the crate in it.
