Need advice on gosling

As far as I can tell, she's still falling far enough to end up on her back. I took her outside yesterday and saw her do it a couple times outside. However, she's not managed to get herself quite as dirty today. Probably because they haven't made as much of a mess in their brooder box today.

I have been seriously considering getting some Niacin pills to give to them, in addition to the Brewer's Yeast. The pills I would get are from Wal-Mart and are 500mg pills. I was thinking I'd break the pill open and add it to their water. That way, I know she'd be getting enough Niacin, even if they spill half of their water. With the Brewer's Yeast having only .55mg (yes, that is just more than half a milligram) per pill, I am not sure she's getting as much as she needs. Do you think adding Niacin is a bad idea? a good idea? I read that ducks need more than 10mg per day, and I'm guessing that a goose needs more than that. What do you think?
Yes get the niacin and add it to their water, I think you'll notice the difference in a couple of days.

Thank you for the answer and the reassurance! I appreciate it! We'll get the niacin when we go into town tomorrow (assuming either Wal-Mart or the pharmacy has some in stock). We'll be going out of town on Wednesday and having a friend take care of the ducks and the Littles (including Lucy) for about a week while we're gone. I really hope that there's no evidence of wobble by the time we come back!!!

I hope you have a nice vacation and that your flock sitter will know how to take care of Lucy especially.

"Regular ole niacin"? You mean there's more than one variety? What kind of things should I look to avoid? Is it bad if it says "flush free"?
I was looking on walmart.com and found the following. Will this Niacin from Wal-Mart work?

Buy Non Flush free and non time release 100 mg per gallon of water.

Thank you! My husband is on his way into town right now to get some. The 100mg per gallon of water - does that take into account them wasting half of their water? Also, I'm getting 500mg tablets. Is it okay to guesstimate on the amount because it would be really hard to break that exactly into fourths or halves?

Dissolve it in one cup of water. Then put 1/4 cup in your gallon container and fill it. Store the rest in the fridge. Shake it well.
That's a brilliant idea! Thank you!

Update: So, Lucy is doing even worse this morning. She is stumbling around as though drunk and is on her SIDE, unable to get up every couple of minutes that I've looked in on her this morning. I have, of course, helped her back to her feet. I'm worried sick about her! I started them on the niacin-in-water yesterday evening. Would it be okay to give her a stronger solution of the niacin water? I have a little (needle-less) syringe I could use to drip a small amount of the stronger solution in her mouth. Is this a bad idea? I could really use some input on this! I saw her take a couple of sips of the niacin water this morning, but I don't think it was enough. I've put a lot of heart into saving her and would hate to lose her two weeks into things (I've had her 2 weeks today, and I think she is roughly 3 weeks old). PLUS, I'm supposed to be taking them to a friend's house TODAY so I can leave tomorrow on a 1 week vacation. I was really hoping she'd be better by the time I got back, and now I'm worried that she may not make it that long. She seems to be healthy otherwise, and she is growing and gaining weight. However, she can't eat or drink if she's constantly on her side, unable to get up.

Poultry drench (many feed stores carry it) is a huge boost to a goose or duck with an illness or injury. Dosing instructions are right on the bottle. We keep it, poly vi sol (no iron) and save a chick on hand for anyone looking "off" or injured. Sorry she isn't getting better for you.

I know you have this trip planned but is your friend going to be dedicated to taken care of Lucy the way she needs to be taken care of? Sounds like she is going to need constant attention right now or you may lose her. Like Celtic said she needs something in the vitamin department, are you still giving the ViTal? don't stop and yes try giving her a little more of the niacin water but be very careful giving into the mouth that she doesn't aspirate it into her lungs.
