Not entirely sure. Someyhing about the carbs. I give mine corn on those handful of cold nights each year. And yeah, berries could have the same effect, just I would rather have berries over corn on a day like today. I just follow that.How does corn generate heat but berries and fruit don't? They're both fairly high in fructose.
Is there a trick to getting them to get into the water? trying to get them toMy wife freezes a can of corn into a Bundt pan full of water, then puts it into the run. I call it a cruel prank but she says it gives them a cool treat. We also put a low busboy tray full of water in the run and some of them wade in it.

Have you given them electrolytes? (Always in a separate waterer in case they don't like to drink it because it tastes weird.
