Need all the tricks for heat

My wife freezes a can of corn into a Bundt pan full of water, then puts it into the run. I call it a cruel prank but she says it gives them a cool treat. We also put a low busboy tray full of water in the run and some of them wade in it.

Full instructions include opening the can of corn and dumping the kernels into the Bundt pan.

I prefer berries or other fruit over corn as once they get to it corn generates heat, if you will.

How does corn generate heat but berries and fruit don't? They're both fairly high in fructose.

Have you given them electrolytes? (Always in a separate waterer in case they don't like to drink it because it tastes weird.

Not entirely sure. Someyhing about the carbs. I give mine corn on those handful of cold nights each year. And yeah, berries could have the same effect, just I would rather have berries over corn on a day like today. I just follow that.

No trick, they just did it on their own in a pan of water so we upsized the vessel. Not every chicken does it, just a few.
