Thank you! I did talk to Diamond Dust Farm about their birds and she told me that her fertility was down due to aging birds but that she would have pullets ready to lay by spring. I just couldn't be patient that long and went with someone on Ebay. This is another rule of mine that I broke, never to buy from ebay EVER AGAIN! Also, in looking at DDF birds, I didn't really love the colors of the plumage, but I am absolutely brand new to this breed and I had seen photos of some of the most beautiful hens on the planet, so I just dove right in without doing my research properly. I have to say that I am totally in love with the chicks that I have now so I am not complaining, at all! Except to say that I wish I had more of the blue, and I wish they had the yellow legs that they are supposed to have! Hopefully my blue chick is a pullet!I may have been looking for some Blue Laced eggs...I can't help it, my silver laced chicks are so stinking cute and the adults are gorgeous. They hatched out of a lighter color egg too?
I saw this website when I was looking (Hopefully it's not the one you already tried): https://www.diamonddustfarm.com/product-page/blue-double-laced-barnevelder-hatching-eggs-dozen#
Yes!!! Those are the hens! Thank you so much for the link. In looking at Greenfire Farms site, they are only offering the silver laced at the moment as far as I can tell. I sent them an email and see if they plan on offering the blue laced anytime soon. I understand the complications with the genetics and the fact that a blue is by no means guaranteed so I will wait to see what GFF says. I'll post back their response! So pretty. I couldn't find it with 100% certainty, but I think that was originally a Greenfire Farms photo. They provided the examples on here: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Barnev/BRKBarnev.html
@KikiLeigh02 I got a response from GFF and they said they do not breed the blue laced barnevelder only the silver. They thought that the photo may have been mistakenly credited to them!I do like the look of the birds from Blue House Farm though. Ahhh, the thoughts turn to next spring, and new hatchlings!!
This is a sickness, you know!
