a Hovabator 1602n, so I will be setting eggs wednesday night! I'm planning on getting some fertile eggs from Trader Joe's (probably leghorns, I'm guessing) and I'm going to try to hatch them with my other mixes from my hens. This should be a fun hatch!

Ok so I added 7 leghorns to the 7 delawares. The leghorns are due to hatch on the 23.

Ok, sounds like some success here...Congrats to you all.
My duck abandoned her nest after something disrupted her one night. I see that she has started a new one though not too far from the old one. Unfortunately the eggs I had in the incubator have not hatched.....hmmmm...and since my last report I have a new duck sitting on 19 eggs and 3 more bantam D'Uccles on the nest of atleast 10 eggs each...they are excellent mothers and so is the Cuckoo Maran so I am excited and getting ready for them to hatch out any day now.

Wow, it is exciting to be down to the last few days. So we I am supposed to hatch on Friday, do I go into Lockdown tonight or tomorrow. I set them LATE (9:30 PM) on a Thursday 04/28. CRUD I counted wrong, mine should be due on May 19, not the 20 right? So when do I lockdown, should I have last night??? Great I am so confused now!!!

I would lock down today, based on what you have counted, but I have almost no experience. Hopefully someone else will have a better answer for you!

My broody's been sitting tight for the past couple days, she gets up for about a minute and flys around the run the entire time she's up trying to eat, drink and potty before she goes back to the nest. I candled her eggs last night and they're all dark with a large air cell! I'm hoping everything goes well. I'm counting on these chicks! I've had a few sick hens and lost my delaware roo a couple weeks ago to an illness

and hoping just one of these chicks are pure delaware. So I'm pretty nervous, and watching my broody and everyone else just to make sure nothing goes sour!

anyone know when you can hear them peep in the shell?? is it right before hatch? a few days? after they pip the air cell? ???

I am so sorry you lost your roo! Wishing you the best on the pure delawares

sorry I can't help here! I have only had one hatch and I think I heard it the day before it piped.

Okay so I left work early to take care of the chickens befor the game, ever used that excuse before "hey boss gotta leave early because I forgot to put my eggs in lockdown last night!"

Anyway I candled and the look good for the most part, a few were not moving but there is not much space. Question on some there is still open space at the pointy end but on others the end is totally filled, is that a problem? So to wrap up I have 12 barnies, 2 lavender orphingtons and 6 buffs going into lockdown set to hatch on Thursday and another 12 barnies for next Thursday
