Just so you know, medicated feed is not a sure way of preventing Coccidiosis. If a bird is introduced to large quantities of Coccidia, or to a different type of Coccidia (like when they move to a new home), the medicated feed isn't always enough to prevent their bodies from becoming overloaded.
The new chicks are housed on a different area of the property than my adult hens and when I have not kept any chickens before. They are separated my about 1/2 acre (I wanted separate flocks).
Could the coccidia have traveled that far from my adults or just be lying around the property? We've had a very dry summer, so the ground is bone dry.
