Sorry, I didn't realize anyone wanted your address. Nope, I wouldn't give that out to strangers either. Again, it sounds like it might be an issue with keeping the water in liquid form long enough. The cookie tin heaters work well for lots of people, and you can put your pan on it. If the water gets a bit too warm, drill a few more holes in the side of the cookie tin to let out more heat. Save it for next year too. The link from the chicken chick is good too. Same type of heater. Until you get yours assembled, you will just have to be more diligent about dumping, and adding water when it ices over, way before it gets totally frozen.

Normally, layer feed won't hurt a rooster, but yours has gout, so that is outside of normal. The Purina Flock Raiser is good, but you will need free choice oyster shell for the hens. I want to caution you about the age of the feed. Feed should always be fresh. I check the dates on my labels when I buy, and won't get old feed. When it's old, the nutritional value is compromised. Worming is only necessary if they have worms, otherwise it's not needed, but worm overload can cause them to slow down on their laying, and even kill them. You are correct about age affecting laying. After 3 years, most hens tend to slow down laying anyway. I've got 2 that are a little over 7 years old. They lay great every spring, then taper down, so by fall when it's time to molt, they aren't laying anymore. It's their age.

Don't jump the gun on soft, or runny stools, but observe what's going on. Are they scarfing down more water when it's available to offset when it's frozen? Is the day a bit warmer than it's been being? Those things can cause their stool to be looser too. You may not see worms, as some are microscopic. Regardless of whether your neighbor worms, your own situation is totally different, so don't entirely rule that out. Wild birds and squirrels can introduce them, which is no reflection of your flock management skills.

I am not trying to be judgemental, or criticize your methods. I know it's totally frustrating when we do everything like we should, then something out of the ordinary happens and throws things out of whack. It happens to the best, and most experienced of chicken keepers.

Hi yes I know why they ask. And yes they did want to know my address they ask state and county and I did say all that stuff. They live in medium barn bought last year from criagslist didn't came with Windows dont know how to make window got 27 chickens all different breeds and size and ages mix breeds too run area s big I keep barn clean with wood shavings and hay for nesting boxes I just feed them layer feed sometimes I switch foods cuz sometimes there out of the food I need some ppl feed there roosters layer feed and hens. I feed veggies too I never use have problems in till now. I had a hen lived up to 10 years once. I don't deworm them. I have old hens too that stop laying I think its old age. Ppl that I know don't deworm them chickens either

If I cant but feed from store theres no other place to buy them theres two stores I go to to buy feed
