Need help identifying what happened to my feed

Thanks. I think I'm dealing with that depluming mite. I tried ivermectin but have read mixed results with whether it's effective. I'm going to try researching alternative treatments.

From what I understand Ivermectin is effective in treating Depluming/Feather Mites.
They do cause feather loss, but generally that is because the bird is tearing their own feathers out to try to get to them. He is not frantic and picking at his skin is he?

No he doesn't appear to be. Sometimes he will act like something is biting him but rarely. I picked him up to examine him again and so many feathers fell out afterwards. What makes me think he has this is there is honey colored crusting in the holes where he lost his feathers. No blood.

Can you take some feather samples to the vet for examination - they should be able to see if there are feather mites (under a microscope).

Personally, I would wait until he is off all medications and recovers a bit before trying something else. He may be overloaded.

I decided to isolate him away from the girls. I noticed both of them picking at his feathers. Clearly they aren't causing a moult type response but they are contributing to his soreness on his wings. He's in the house with them but they can't get to him.

sulfur helps to get rid of mites and lice resistant to pesticides
Dip bird in a sulfur-soap mixture (2 oz. Elemental sulfur and 1 oz soap per gallon of water). Wet feathers thoroughly to the skin. every 7 - 8 days

I read about something called flowers of sulfur that is good for this mite. Have you heard of it? I'll look into giving him a bath. I'm hesitant to do anything too hands on with him bc he screams in pain. I think his feather loss is painful for him.
