need help sexing this peafowl

so would this one be a purple as well? I was under the understanding it was a cameo... she is 3 years old and if it is a purple would it be called a purple cameo??? or just purple?

Yep that's a Purple peahen. Beautiful Purple hen might I add. There are no Purple Cameo hens. That would result in a Peach. Peach peafowl came into existence do to breeding Cameo and Purples together. When a Purple and Cameo bred together you will get IB peafowl. The peacocks will be Indian Blue split to Purple and Cameo. During meiosis the Purple and Cameo allele can cross over onto the same chromosome, resulting in a gamete that will produce a Peach. If this gamete lines up with a egg cell carrying a W sex chromosome you will get a Peach peahen. Then if you breed the Peach hen to a Indian Blue split to Cameo and Purple cock, you can get a Peach peacock.

KSKingBee do you have pictures of Cameo hens. If so can you please post them. Here's an Indian Blue peahen with Indian Blue peachicks at 2 weeks old.

Like price wise what would you sell them for, compaired to indian blue. I'M not trying to make a living doing this just doing it for a hobby, and only selling if I get to many after they breed next year.

To fill you in on peafowl pricing there are some important factors. Factors are, where you're located at, what variety the bird is, and who you are. Are you NPIP Certified or are you a small breeder. Just to give you an example. I'm located in Idaho, I breed Indian Blues and White peafowl, and I'm a small breeder. I sell Indian Blue peachicks at $20 a chick straight run. An adult Indian Blue would be lucky to reach $50 each. White peachicks are $40 a chick straight run. Adult Whites will be lucky if it reaches $100. Looking at Brad Legg, he's got almost every variety of peafowl, he's NPIP Certified. Because he's NPIP Certified he can ship peafowl across the US. His adult Indian Blues are worth $150, his adult Whites are $300. That's why we can only give you an idea. Chances being between Purple, White, and Indian Blue; Whites will have the most value to those who don't recognize the difference between Purple and Indian Blues. Same goes with Indian Blue Black Shoulder and Indian Blue barred wing. Many people here in Idaho have Black Shoulder but think they have an Indian Blue barred peacock, and a Pied peahen. Though both are Black Shoulders. Black Shoulder peafowl have more value than Indian Blue peafowl. Most people here in Idaho don't know the difference unless it's Indian Blue vs. White. So the more valuable varieties may get shorted out of their value.

Indian Blues I sell $20 a chick straight run. White peachicks I sell $40 straight run. Purples I'm not sure. Most people would probably only buy them for $35 each straight run. Mainly just because people won't recognize the difference between Indian Blues and Purples. So they wouldn't bring as much value. If I could have the market I would like I would prefer having the more rare varieties be at least the same value as White peafowl.Charcoal, Bronze, Opal, Taupe, Peach, and possibly Cameo I would sell at $50 or more for a peachick, straight run.

I'll vote peahen, just because the expression and shape of her face :) I have India blues, so I don't know about cameos, but I can sex them as babies based on how they look and act, it's not scientific, it's just experience.
