You were not an idiot. You gave him an opportunity to get on a healthy road. You did what you would have wanted someone to do for you. You loved him and held him accountable. I believe God used you to sow some good seeds and show him a glimpse of something better. Even if you don't see it now, down the road, I believe he will remember the love you showed him and it may help convict him that there is a better way. Thankfully, God let the truth be shown at just the right time. Don't let this harden your heart. God bless you!

I remeber being that age! I also hated my public high school. When I was 17 I was having the hardest time with my chemistry class and my Plane Geometry class. I failed both of them once and yes they were required. I told my mom I was getting emancipated and then getting my GED so she couldn't do anything about it. My uncle heard what I had told my mom and told me I was staying in school and getting my diploma. He helped me with my chemistry and Plane Geometry and he is the reason I graduated last June. He was the first person to stand up as I walked across the stage with my friends. My uncle who is my mother's brother, has always pushed me and been there when I felt like falling.

Up- the- creek, I say just give him a push encourage him and be there for him.

I'm absolutely floored that they would do that to you! I think that you've got to be an awesome person to try and help him out. His Mom coming up with this horrendous plan to screw your family, it's amazing what some people think of!

At least you found out BEFORE those papers were filed. I'm soooo sorry that you and yours had to go through something like this.
