Need help with chick found outside

That is definantly a wild turkey poult. We have had success raising them but have had losses also.

Buy some medicated wild game feed for it. Is it peeping alot? If it is, it is probably imprinted on its mother. Maybe you caught it young enough so it isnt imprinted.

Hope all goes well for you and your new little friend. Keep us posted!

This is Larry that we saved.

This is Larry now. He had no snood. Never showed signs of one as a poult. So you might have a snoodless turkey!

His snood was probly taken off by another poult, thats is a defect if it was born with out one. All the years of hunting and raising wild turkey's i can honestly say ive never seen a Wild Eastern turkey with out one(32 years). Gives a turkey character....

If you put a close up of your grown bird on here of his head, from what i can see it looks like there was a start to one on the pic..

Interesting study on the turkey snood

Update on turkey...Wildlife rehabber assessed turkey and determined a broken wing. He/she is on unknown medication and will have wing taped/splinted. Thanks for prayers, well wishes and good sound advice from you all.

Larry is a handsom fella even with out his snood..what he lacks in snood he makes up for in his awesome double beard...

Thankyou everyone for all the wonderful comments. Unfortunately, I must have forgotten to mention that Larry passed away a year ago. He walked off into our woods and died. He is still greatly missed.

We got another male turkey poult from a breeder that lives near us. His father is a beardlesss tom. Just our luck, out of 200 baby poults hatching, my dad picks the poult that turns our to be BEARDLESS! But...you gotta love turkeybird.
